The Cilantro Man

I remember asking Juan Felipe Herrera if he would contribute to writing the introduction to TWENTY: Poems In Memoriam, the collection offered to the children, parents, families, and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary School, and the community of Newtown, Connecticut.  Already busy with being the poet laureate of  California, he took the time to write a beautiful intro.

I have never met JFH, but he has inspired me through the years with the approach he takes on writing especially during times of crisis and disaster. He's a first responder!

Congratulations maestro! I am honored to be a poet, living and writing at a time when you take the helm of U.S. Poet Laureate.

The price of cilantro just went up!
